Julie Spencer

Julie L. Spencer has been publishing nonfiction since 2004 and fiction since 2014. Her first official publication was her master’s thesis about using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to evaluate land preservation at the watershed level.

She has been working since 2011 as a conservation district administrator where she specializes in public relations, public administration, nonprofit organization, small business management, inter-governmental relations, networking, grant proposal writing and research, grants administration, scientific writing, translating scientific documents into layman’s terms, writing newsletters, newspaper articles, press releases, and blog posts. In her spare time Julie writes novels.

Julie’s fiction writing is focused on romance and love stories, fiction about real social issues, speaking out against teen drinking, sexual assault, and child trafficking. She has published over 63 publications on Kindle Direct Publishing, 21 audiobooks on ACX, and has recently started working on taking her publications wide through other platforms such as Ingram Spark and PublishDrive.

During her master’s program, Julie served as a graduate assistant teaching in large lecture halls, one-on-one tutoring, and in computer labs. She has mentored employees at her conservation district as well as through her small press publishing company, Spencer Publishing, LLC.

She derives satisfaction from helping new authors transform their manuscript into a finished book they’ll be proud to show off to their friends and family. She specializes in guiding new authors through formatting, working with cover designers, editors and proofreaders as well as social media marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), keyword research, and building an author platform.

Other interests include computer aided cartography and remote sensing, environmental and clean water concerns and regulations, wildlife habitat restoration, invasive species eradication, international relations, learning new languages and cultures, meteorology and geography.
